Way back in 1980 when I lived in LA I got the chance to write and record an original composition that was to be performed in a real recording studio. I was a student at the Musician Institute (GIT) at the time and Tommy Tedesco put together a session where the students got to record with a professional drummer. That drummer would be Shelly Manne, and it was my first time in a professional studio so I remember it to this day.
Shelly blew through the charts no problem, a real pro. I asked for his autograph and he happily gave it to me along with encouragement.
I just found this chart that I thought I had lost. Sometimes it’s good to look back on some old memories, especially when they put a smile on your face…Stay safe everyone. CHEERS!
